We found the door to the apartment slightly tricky to open, but we were met by JD who couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. The check-in process is very easy using your phone. The swimming pool area is lovely too and as the hotel is set on the hillside, also enjoys stunning views of LA. You can even lie in bed and see the view of LA. It has some really nice touches like the myriad of adjustable lights, allowing you to set the mood you desire. Not only that but the room itself is really nicely furnished and a very good size, including a table and comfy chairs. We booked room 502, which has a good size balcony providing a panoramic view of LA. Our first impression of our apartment at the Hollywood Hills Hotel can be summed up in just one word -”Wow!”. In short, I was excited for a stay at what I recalled was a pretty cute hotel at one point in time, but now it feels like they're cutting corners. It came across as annoying, not thought-provoking. The property also really leans into their ”circusy” theme, which I'm all about a bohemian vibe but blasting ”Pure Imagination” at my brunch hour misses the creative mark. The check-in process was extremely slow and i was put on hold multiple times when calling down to the front desk staff. seems petty but these are the minor details you're paying premium for. they did offer to sell me coffee, but we ended up having to leave to make our dinner. Service to the rooms was bad - My room was stocked with all decaf pods and hot chocolate, when I called to ask for caff they said they were out. Outdated rooms in general in desperate need of renovation - it all needs updates, it looks dated and unkept to be honest, and not in a chic way. but that's hotels in general - Great location Cons: - BLACK MOLD in bathroom/tub - this was seriously concerning and should be immediately addressed in all rooms. Pros: - Cute rooftop with pool (tho it's very small so go early or off hours) - Very good breakfast food - very pricey though. This hotel is 4.9 mi (7.8 km) from Universal Studios Hollywood and 5 mi (8 km) from The Grove.Take in the views from a terrace and make use of amenities such as complimentary wireless Internet access and concierge services.Stop by the hotel's restaurant, Cara Restaurant, for lunch, dinner, or brunch. Los Angeles | 0.92km from city center Located in Los Angeles (Thai Town), Cara is within a 5-minute drive of Griffith Park and Hollywood Walk of Fame. Only one elevator can be used by swiping the room card. The bathroom and floor and wall seem to have been renovated, and look relatively new. The room size is relatively small, with a small refrigerator, coffee machine, hair dryer, no toothbrushes, slippers, etc. There is heating in the room, so it is more comfortable to open in winter night. The hotel does not include breakfast, but you can borrow a microwave oven to clean the room every three days. The surrounding environment of the hotel is average, there are often homeless people sleeping on the street, and there is trash on the ground. In addition, there is a Japanese-style grocery store, which is cheap and good. There is a big Target supermarket nearby, Ralph next to the subway station, and a Thai noodle shop. The hotel is located in the Hollywood district, not far from the Universal Studios, the Chinese Theater, the Mount Hollywood sign and other attractions, and the transportation is convenient. The entrance gates of the subway station were vandalized, and many people entered the station without buying a ticket. Los Angeles | 0.82km from city center The location of the hotel is also not far from the subway station, a five-minute walk, but it is strongly recommended not to take the subway, there are homeless people everywhere, the whole body is dirty and smelly, and it feels very unsafe.
